Application in construction materials
wollastonite’s unique chemical composition and structure has made it a performance reinforcement for the construction industry. The only naturally occurring, white, non-metallic mineral that is acicular (needle-like) in shape， Wollastonite functions both as processing aid and properties enhancer. During processing, it helps in the layers’ interconnection stabilization, preventing delamination, and aids in the dispersion of ingredients in the slurry. Wollastonite also increases water drainage and improves dimensional stability and green strength while controlling shrinkage. The resulting product has increased fire/high temperature resistance, and improved weatherability and durability. Wollastontie has widely applied in a range of construction materials including fiber concrete, calcium silicate board, EIFS systems, patching compound and composite fire prevention board.
